WengoPhone is a free and open source VoIP soft phone solution for Windows operating systems that provides features like auto dialing, call recording, call forwarding, conferencing, extension dialing and integrated directory assistance. WengoPhone offers free download to its website which has over 30+ WML examples and WML codes to test and implement in your application. It also includes a free demo version for testing and observing basic calls and functionality of the soft phone. WengoPhone is written in C++ and is a free and open source program. The software has been developed by telecommunications expert and computer security consultant Sunny Isles Technologies Ltd. Software copyright is owned by WengoPhone Company limited who also hold the exclusive rights to sell, rent, transfer and use the software and any associated documentation in accordance with the license agreement.
To start using the WengoPhone soft phone application you first need to download and install the WengoPhone software on your computer. Installation is easy as you just need to follow few simple steps which are presented during the installation. Once installed the application will prompt you to insert an USB pen or any other data cable for connecting to the computer. The software can be run from the Windows desktop as a stand alone application or can be installed within the windows installer and running as a part of windows service framework. Once running the WengoPhone application you can browse the WML file that is present in the software and connect to any other WLL compliant phone that is on your network.
The free software also allows you to create conference calls with up to 128 participants. The distinct advantage of WengoPhone is that it works perfectly well with Windows and does not require compatibility issues. For example, it will work perfectly fine when connected to a Windows XP computer but not a Windows Vista computer. WengoPhone also integrates perfectly with VoIP like Skype so that you can make free VoIP calls anywhere in the world. In my view, the free software has very low start up costs and the added feature of conference calling makes it an excellent tool for making cheap international calls.
